Ohio Documents
的 Ohio documents collection is located on the 五楼 of Alden 图书馆 in the Government Documents Collection. Ohio documents are cataloged in the library’s ALICE Catalog. Additional materials are available via the OhioLINK Central Catalog.
的 State 图书馆 of Ohio is the regional depository for publications of Ohio state agencies. 的 Ohio Revised Code Section 149.11 provides that the agencies shall deposit copies of their publications with the State 图书馆. 的 State 图书馆 in turn distributes many of these publications to selected Ohio depository libraries for the use of Ohio residents.
Ohio University became a State of Ohio depository in 1959 and receives all agency and department publications deemed important for public use and distributed through the state depository program. Items are received from state agencies such as the Department of Education, the Secretary of State, and the Natural 资源 Department. Materials are also received from those agencies, 董事会, 佣金, and bureaus which are funded by the state government, e.g. the Agricultural 研究 and Development Center, the Ohio Youth Commission, the Public Utilities Commission, 等.
Our Ohio documents collection dates from the 1840’s and has over 18,000 volumes, 9,000 units of microfiche, and 196 periodical titles as well as digital content via the Internet. 的 collection includes everything from statistics to engineering studies, from recipes and geological maps, to brochures about the State Parks.
Ohio documents are shelved according to the Ohio Documents Classification Scheme. This is similar to the SuDoc system 用于U.S. documents: it is an arrangement according to issuing agency rather than subject. Ohio document call numbers consist of letters and numbers such as the following:
- OD 1.2: A939 (A publication from Ohio Development Department)
- 简称OGA 1.3: 977 (A publication from the Ohio General Assembly)
- ONR 1.16: 975/11 (A publication from the Department of Natural 资源)
