*If you received a scholarship to attend newbb电子平台 from an outside agency or organization, the agency will decide if you can use the scholarship for study abroad/away.

Why do I need to meet with 金融援助 if I'm studying abroad/away?

你的经济援助(助学金)总额, 奖学金, 勤工助学, 贷款)是受限于你的总出席费用. The study abroad advisor in the Office of Student 经济援助及奖学金 can increase your cost of attendance to reflect the additional costs of your program. This is important if you receive additional funding, such as a scholarship from OGO. 

Increasing your cost of attendance also allows for new or additional loan funding. Parents can apply for a Federal PLUS Loan to cover costs associated with study abroad/away. 家长或学生也可以选择私人贷款. 学生必须有一个信誉良好的共同签署人.

What steps do I take for a global program offered for transfer credit (Exchanges, 子公司, Non-俄亥俄州)?

1. Begin the Global Experiences Transfer Credit Approval Process by starting your Exchange or Non-俄亥俄州 application in the OGO学生入门网站. 

2. 一旦你被批准出国留学, complete the 入学 Approval and Academic Approval sections in the OGO学生入门网站. This ensures that courses taken while in the program will transfer back to newbb电子平台 and apply toward your newbb电子平台 degree. 

3. 如果你获得经济援助, you must meet with the study abroad advisor to discuss requirements for using 金融 aid. 你需要带上你的备选预算工作表. This must be signed/approved by the 全球机遇办公室 prior to meeting with the study abroad advisor.

Are there special 奖学金 and grants for study abroad/away?

The Office of Student 经济援助及奖学金 does not have additional funds available to offer to students who study abroad. 

The 全球机遇办公室 offers some 奖学金 for study abroad/away, 哪些奖项在竞争的基础上每两年颁发一次. 

Additionally, undergraduate students can apply for experiential learning grant through the 咨询、职业和体验学习中心(ACE).

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://studentaid.gov/ 对于正确的年份. Some OGO study abroad/away scholarship and grant applications require that you complete a FAFSA. If you complete a FAFSA, but do not wish to receive 金融 aid, you can decline your aid online. The 全球机遇办公室' need-based Travel Grant requires you complete a FAFSA to apply for the grant. 

如果我在国外，我将如何获得我的经济资助? 

你的经济援助将在你离开后发放. Enroll in direct deposit prior to departure if you will utilize excess 金融 aid while you are abroad. 您可以通过您的 俄亥俄学生中心. It is critical that all requirements are met before you leave.
