It’s easy to schedule an appointment with your advisor. 事实上, you are encouraged to meet with your advisor often since they are the most reliable resource of information, 规划, 以及对你的支持. Which advisor should I meet with?

Please schedule your meeting with your assigned advisor.  If you don’t know who that is, it can be found in the column on the right in you MyOhio 学生 Center, or at the top of your DARS. If you do not have an assigned advisor yet, you can meet with any available advisor.

  • 保持 advising appointments you have scheduled, or cancel if you cannot attend.
  • 诚实和开放. If you are experiencing a personal or academic difficulty that is interfering with your studies, please share this with your advisor.
  • 是一个 积极的参与者 in the advisement process by coming prepared to each appointment with questions or material for discussion, including plans and ideas.
  • 熟悉 with degree requirements, university policies and procedures, and campus resources.
  • 积极 manage your progress toward degree completion by reviewing DARS and the online catalog in the My俄亥俄州 学生 Center.
  • 定期 read your 俄亥俄州 e-mail, and do not forward it to a third-party email client (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
  • Take primary and increasing responsibility for making your own decisions based on available professional advice and information.
  • Accept responsibility for your decisions and actions that affect your educational programs and goals. Please understand that the ultimate responsibility of obtaining your degree rests with the student, 不是顾问.

  • Understand and effectively 沟通 institutional policies, 度, and college requirements, including the General 教育 requirements.
  • 工作协作 to assist you in dreaming, defining, and developing your academic, career, and life goals.
  • 创建一个 安全的环境 of mutual respect where you can share your thoughts, aspirations, 担忧, and interests.
  • Provide academic success strategies and referrals to appropriate campus resources when needed.
  • Listen and provide feedback carefully to your questions, 担忧, 和困惑, and seek assistance in answering questions when not sure of the correct answer.
  • Encourage and support you as you gain the skills and knowledge necessary for success.
  • 协助 you in making course and program decisions.
  • Understand how to read a degree audit (DARS) and assist you as you learn how to navigate this advising resource.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of 保密 as required by the Family 教育al Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • 做好准备 for academic advising appointments by reviewing student academic records and appropriate notes from the student file.
